Summer 2026 Update! Where were we???

Hi everyone. It's been awhile since we've given you an update. Sorry about that! We have a lot to talk about today! There's a new version of the Yeld 2nd Edition PDF, an update on some expansions we owe you, and a lot of news. Lets get into it!
A Big Apology: First of all, we're really sorry for leaving you without an update since last Fall. As some of you know, Nick and I spent most of last year traveling around the US to about a dozen conventions and gaming events promoting Yeld. We actually saw a bunch of you last year at Gencon, GAMA, Origins and other shows! At the same time, we were doing a LOT of work, and going through all the normal life stuff. We burned ourselves out pretty hard. Like, sitting in the dark and starring off into space for hours hard. We didn't stop working or go radio silent though. You may have seen me online talking about our game or my comic, or at conventions, or on Discord. But we were both pretty exhausted and at the end of our rope, and we spent most of the Fall and Winter resting and recovering. During all that time I SHOULD have stopped by Kickstarter to give you all an update on what we were doing. I take it for granted that a lot of you follow us in other places, but I know that not all of you do. So I'm real sorry about that. We have a lot to tell you today and we shouldn't have kept you waiting.
A BIG pdf update! This week we launched a big update for the Yeld 2nd Edition PDF. This includes typo fixes, corrections and errata, as well as some small rules changes. Theres some fun updates to teh Witch Job Ability, an adjustment for Challenge Difficulty, a new aspect to the Restless Dead rule and several small changes to Special Dice. You should have received a link from both DrivethruRPG and Kickstarter to download the new PDF. If you didn't, don't hesitate to contact us here or at Yeldstuff!gmail.com. We've also released a patch notes PDF highlighting these changes, which you can download here.
The Missing Expansions: During the Kickstarter we offered two new expansions as add-ons, Royal Academy for Mystical Studies and Fight School. We weren't able to finish these in time to ship them with your orders, and we promised we'd have them done as soon as we could. The bad news is that these expansions are still not done, even now! The good news is that they're close. Both expansions are written, and I'm in the process of finishing art (the illustration above is from the Royal Academy). Once the art is done we'll move on to proof reading and layout, and then the books will be sent to the printer. We're really hoping that these will be ready to ship to you this Fall. I know you've been waiting a long time!
Why has it taken so long? Well... as I said earlier, burn out was a lot of it. But also, we originally intended these to be smaller books, about 24-32 pages. Instead, they've grown pretty huge! Fight School is a respectable 48 pages, making it one of our largest expansions. But Royal Academy has grown to a massive 90 pages, and really expanded to be a full sourcebook, which is what we're calling it now! Both books just have a lot more content, which required a lot more time to develop. They're both really great, and I hope you'll be able to get a lot of use out of them!
We'll keep you updated on progress and let you know when the PDFs are available and the books are ready to ship. Expect a preview later this Summer!
New Games! Part of our burnout was creative. Late last year and earlier this year Nick and I were both feeling like we wanted to work on anything but Yeld (keep in mind, we've been on Yeld non stop since 2018). So what did we do? We released 2 brand new Yeld games!
Rats with Gats and Mer X Maid are both small games set in Yeld, one about Pi-Rats and the other about Mermaids! These games are a little less traditional than The Magical Land of Yeld, and intended as one-shots or short games. These games really helped us break out of our creative rut and come back excited to work on the bigger Yeld game!
In Rats with Gats you play a newly awakened Pi-Rat crew with a set of simple goals: seize a ship, grab a weapon, earn a pirate name and die in an astounding act of piracy! Use a deck of cards to plot out challenges, evoke secret pirate techniques and get in and out of trouble! This one was written by Nick, with art by me!
In Mer X Maid you play a mermaid who has just moved to the free city of Sarensang, and wants to fall in love! You'll go on a series of first dates with other mermaids to find out who you like the best! Mer X Maid is a dating game with pre-made characters (some you might recognize from our other games), a shared GM and a simple card based mechanic, perfect for one-shots and peopel who are new to TTRPGs! This one is written and drawn by me!

A New Yeld Actual Play Series! Earlier this summer Roll Fourth launched their new Yeld actual play series, and it's pretty great. It's an ongoing series, and there's 4 episodes available now, with new ones every other week! Please give it a listen! You can find out more on their site!
Lots of new Yeld stuff! We've been releasing new Yeld content every month on Patreon. This month we introduced two new Advanced Jobs focusing on Yeld's Knightly Orders! Over the last year we've created new Job Abilities for Witch, Hunter in Darkness and Black Casket, released new Adventures centered around Pirate Cities, Root Gods and the Keymas Holiday, brought Mushroomancers and Professional Wrestlers to Yeld and introduced a brand new set of Animal Friends that you can use in your games! That's it for now! Nick and I are hard at work, and we have a lot of plans for Yeld over the next year. Right now we're entirely focused on getting the Royal Academy and Fight School expansions wrapped up and to you, and we hope we'll have updates for you on that later this Summer.
